APEX Hockey Summer Development Camp Overview

The APEX Hockey Summer Development Camp, hosted at the Ponds of Brookfield Tuesday & Thursday nights, has become one of the premier youth hockey camps in Southeastern Wisconsin. Over the past 7 years, the camp has grown significantly, catering to aspiring hockey players who are eager to enhance their skills and develop their game under expert guidance.

Camp Leadership:
– Greg Copeland, a seasoned coach and former collegiate player, leads the camp’s back-end programming and administration
– Coach Mary Duecker, an experienced skating coach with one of the strongest backgrounds in on-ice skating skill development, leads the on-ice sessions. Mary’s expertise in skating, and position-specific drills ensures that each player receives hands-on attention tailored to their needs.

Timeline of Growth & Success:

– 2017: The camp was founded by Coach Greg & Coach Mary, focusing on group skating instruction with a vision to provide top-level training to youth players in the area. With just a handful of participants, the camp emphasized core skating skills and fundamentals.

– 2019: By its third year, the camp saw a significant increase in participants, largely due to the positive word-of-mouth from parents and players.

– 2021: The camp continued to expand, reaching over 100 participants for the first time. At this point, APEX Hockey had earned a reputation for helping players move on to higher levels of play, including AAA programs and high school varsity teams. The addition of specialized group skating coaching and small-area games elevated the camp’s offerings.

– 2023: APEX Hockey is now recognized as one of the top summer development camps in the region. Players from various skill levels, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced, attend the camp, which now features tailored development programs for different age groups. On-Ice Lead Mary Duecker, with a team of additional instructors, ensure that every player receives high level attention to detail.
